Background and Experience
of
EUGENE L. SWIER
Eugene
L. Swier of Pasadena, Maryland graduated Summa Cum Laude
from Harrington University in 2000 with a Masters of Science
degree in Safety and Environmental Management. Mr. Swier
holds the distinguished designation of CSP from the National
Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He also has
minored in Business Management at Champlain College,
completing the majority of this work in 1980 while owning
and operating a successful business in Life Safety aspects,
specializing in fire protection and security. Mr. Swier
sold
this successful enterprise of almost 17 years
in 1989.
Prior to this, Mr.
Swier was involved for two years as an x-ray technician;
having had earlier experience in academic nuclear physics
and applying this to developing and performing experiments
in oncology using his custom-built particle accelerator.
Immediately following, he was engaged for nearly six years
in numerous aerospace and defense related projects which
included nuclear related weapons programs and equally
important nuclear energy production. Mr. Swier holds
various certifications with the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) including Radiological Emergency Management.
He has also been active with FEMA on statewide disasters
elsewhere in the US and its Territories.
Since selling his
Life Safety business, Mr. Swier has focused his professional
career on planning, developing, and implementing compliance
programs and training initiatives for safety engineering in
construction. In this capacity, Mr. Swier continued to use
his specializations in fire protection and life safety
standards. He has since consolidated this background into
an enterprise that offers challenges in the thriving
industry of home safety and inspection. Mr. Swier has
become an active member of the National Association of
Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI). He is currently
registered as a Certified Master Home Inspector. With his
“hands-on” background of nearly thirty years, Mr. Swier
also teaches in private local schools for certifying Home
Inspectors.
Briefly, Mr. Swier
has earned recognition for his 30 years of contributions to
industry and the general public. Described as a “point of
light” by former First Lady Barbara Bush, he was
acknowledged as putting “service above self” for efforts in
public awareness and as an inventor/entrepreneur working in
the “public trust”. Mr. Swier was noted for establishing a
non-profit State Association for his professional industry
and going on to represent the industry in the New England
region. He was also noted for establishing a non-profit
Foundation for a national health awareness campaign promoted
through Rotary International, local media, and national
television (CBS). Mr. Swier has used his talents and
experience in building construction and life safety and
applied them to executive management, senate and governor
elect residences, and to presidential estates. Mr. Swier
has also used his background and expertise to recommend
improving health and safety conditions within local, state,
and federal government as well as private industry. These
included the insurance and pharmaceutical industries,
museums, heavy industry, hospitals, airports, transportation
systems (above and below ground), educational institutions,
and more recently, the Pentagon.
Mr. Swier continues
to put “service above self” by focusing his background and
experience on providing a safer environment for home owners
through REGAL Home Inspection Services. His complete
service includes basic structural components and building
systems; and, recognizing the influence of the environment
on health and safety, offers environmental services such as
radon measurement, testing for toxic mold and harmful vapors
from building materials, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), and water
quality. Mr. Swier’s early experience as a “Town Energy
Coordinator” and successful rehabilitation of small
commercial buildings using “Green Building” concepts for
energy savings positions him for long term growth offerings
to current and prospective home owners and small business.
